The oldest football association in Australia came to us with declining player numbers and no real identity, so we helped them remember who they are and got parents registering their kids again.
Where they started
Granville and Districts Soccer and Football Association is the oldest football association in Australia, which means the very first game of soccer in this country was played in their association. They are quite literally the birthplace of football here, with a long and rich history, but their most recent history had become the most forgettable. They came to us with declining player numbers, the fewest clubs in their history at just 21, and no strong identity or direction.
What we found
One of the most useful things we learned during discovery was that, as much as the history matters, parents simply do not care about the history of your association. In almost every case the things that drive a registration are awareness, how close the club is to home, and trust. So we built two campaigns to do two different jobs. One was for brand, and it was simple, standing on the shoulders of giants. The other was for conversions, and it was even simpler, awareness.
The results
The outcome
We ran awareness campaigns to local parents encouraging them to register their kids for the season between December and March each year, backed by a simple lead form for an in person registration night, a BBQ dinner where families meet locals and the kids play. It was fun, easy for every club to host, and it worked. Across three years running from 2022 to 2025 we saw a real year on year increase in players, more than 850 additional registrations off the back of the paid campaigns, all reinforced with email marketing and SMS reminders so nobody forgot their club’s registration night.
Within the first three months of working together we set up a photoshoot with every single club, capturing new content that all laddered up to one campaign and one message, ready for the registration push that went live at the end of December. Giving every club fresh, consistent imagery and video was a huge part of rebuilding a sense of shared identity.

Content that made a historic association feel current again, and gave families a reason to see themselves in it.

Social Media Management
Our social media management ↗Straight from the feed
Recovering the identity of one of the proudest associations in the country meant showing up consistently everywhere parents look, so website, social, ads and content all pulled in the same direction. On social we took the new photography and content from every club and turned it into a feed with a single, clear message behind it.
Facebook followers grew from around 2,000 to 3,500 and Instagram from 800 to 1,700 in twelve months, and engagement across their social more than doubled, which gave every registration campaign a warmer, more familiar audience to talk to.
